We have good news! The Awesome Adventures of Captain Spirit for macOS is finally here. Now you can play it on all the MacBooks and iMacs. It is a free graphic adventure game and we are sure that you’ll enjoy it. While Dontnod Entertainment developed it, Square Enix published it. The story follows Chris Eriksen, a boy who creates a fictional superhero named Captain Spirit to get through the loss of his mother.
As we mentioned, in the game you take on the role of Chris who is using his imagination to deal with his tough life. In his fantasy world, the boy takes on Captain Spirit. He is a powerful superhero that must face a number of villains like Snowmancer and his ”arch nemisis Matroid”. The boy is helped by imaginary allies such as Sky Pirate and others. Unfortunately beneath the imaginary world, there is a darker world. Because of his mom recently passed away, his father started to drink trying to find solace from the grief. So The Awesome Adventures of Captain Spirit is also focusing on the boy’s relationship with his father.
Most of the gameplay is about searching in the house and adding items in Chris list of titular ”Awesome Things to Do”. This is happening while his father is watching a basketball game on TV. Expect to be in a house where are little touches establishing the atmosphere. You will see a perfume bottle left behind, unopened Christmas decorations and even cartoons drawn by Chris mother. While playing The Awesome Adventures of Captain Spirit for macOS, you slowly understand how she died. Also you will see how hard is for the young boy to deal with the situation, too.
This game is available to download as .dmg right now. Once .dmg file is downloaded open it and extract the game in applications folder. That’s all!
At some point, you will notice that Chris’ father will fall asleep. Don’t wake him up until you done everything you want in the chapter. In case you wake him up, you are going to enter a cutscene that last till the end of the game. Another thing is that Captain Spirit’s costume is made of items the boys finds while exploring the house. The items he has on list of ”awesome things” range from fighting his enemies to defeating the evil ”Mantroid”.
